IRP Online Renewal Requirements

The staff at STS will make sure your IRP renewal process for your truck is quick and easy.

STS provides service to truckers and truck fleets for IRP applicants who have a low number of vehicles and who are not making any significant changes. Renewals will receive registration for all 59 IRP member jurisdictions depending on the circumstances of their renewal. If any distance was accrued during the respective reporting period, it must be reported and will be used to calculate fees. IRP Renewals with actual distance only pay for the jurisdictions where distance was accrued. If no distance was accrued during the respective reporting period for the circumstances allowed, renewals will be based upon the “Average Per Vehicle Distance” requirements of the International Registration Plan for the 59 member jurisdictions. This process will NOT change any part of your current IRP registration information, file, or vehicles currently operating. To make changes to your current file, you must submit a supplemental application for the current registration year.

IRP Summary for Registration Year 2017

Current IRP registrations and credentials expire March 31, 2016. Drivers of vehicles with expired registrations are subject to arrest after March 31, 2016. Power units renewed will be issued a distinctive 8.5 X 11 cab card showing the 2017 registration year. Apportioned trailer registration does not require a renewal and remains current as long as the vehicle remains in service in the same ownership. If ownership changes, it should be deleted from the firm by filing the proper application.

What is the expiration date and renewal period for IRP license plates?

Many States have a staggered IRP renewal system. This means that your IRP license plate expires at midnight on the last day of the month indicated on the plate. Enforcement begins at 12:01 a.m., the first day of the next month. There is no grace period under the staggered renewal system. The specific month for your renewal will be determined and assigned by the Bureau of Motor Carr0ier Services.
